Hmmm… I couldn’t find my eHarmony profile page. So, I’ll have to make this stuff up on the fly.
Let’s see, I work and live in Rockford, IL. I moved to Rockford in 2003 to take a job in Tech Support with Pierce Biotechnology. I worked in Tech Support for two years and then worked with the sales team for 3 years. Now, I work in the Marketing Communications Department as part of the Web Team and our eMarketing Group. We’re not Pierce anymore now that Thermo Fisher Scientific owns the site. We lost some of our identity, but we’re still the same great people trying to make great products. There are also some advantages to being part of the largest biotech company on the planet.
Before Pierce, I was in graduate school at the University of South Florida. I did my Ph.D research in Tampa and 1 year in Newark, NJ. Before that I lived in Menlo Park, CA and worked as a Lab Tech at the Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. Before that, I finished my B.A. at Northern Illinois University, just down the road from here in Dekalb, IL. I received my A.S. from Elgin Community College and graduated from Elgin High School. Before Illinois, I lived in Jonesboro, GA for the first 16 years of my life.
I am a bit of a nerd. I went to college and graduate school to study science, specifically molecular biology. I loved college and graduate school, but I learned more working for Pierce Biotechnology than anywhere else. Pierce gave me some great opportunities, both in supporting research and product development. As sad I was to leave the bench, I really enjoyed sales and management. However, I have to tell you, I like marketing the best. It gives me a chance to be creative, work closely with some great people, and develop some skills I’ve never had the need to before. So, during business hours these days, I focus on improving web content (and my writing skills) and Google AdWords campaigns for the company’s eMarketing Dept., learning web programming, graphic design and planning marketing campaigns.
After hours, I work a small freelance company I founded called ClickKinetics. We do consulting for website search engine optimization, Google AdWords account setup and campaign management and I’ve even started doing some website creation. I love being able to learn things on my own and apply them to my job as well as learning skills at my job and applying them outside of work.
I am Google AdWords Qualified. So, if you’re looking for an account manager, shoot me a line..
When I’m not doing computer work, I spend time with my amazing 5 yr old son, Benjamin. He just started Kindergarten and taekwondo. It’s pretty cool because I just started kenpo so we get to teach each other different moves. I also like camping, fishing, hiking, brewing beer and enjoying all that God has created around us. I’m lucky enough to have a couple of digital cameras and, when the opportunity arises, I like to take pictures. I hope you will enjoy sharing some of the experiences I’ve had and maybe these photos will inspire you to make some memories of your own.
